Global Folk Fusion
This year the Inly Arts Festival explores folk art from around the world. The theme ties into the rotating Cultural Studies curriculum of Inly School, which will be World Civilizations for 2008–2009. Following the school-wide central question "How and why do world civilizations connect?" we’ll explore how artistic traditions intersect, evolve and blend together. Come make connections of your own and experience this year’s unique offerings, including:
- Hands-on folk art projects modeling authentic materials and techniques passed down through generations in cultures around the world
- Interactive dance workshops (information to come)
- Folk tales from around the world, acted out by high school theater troupe
- Interactive "green screen" film and technology project
- Afro-Cuban drum circle performance
- Live band performing world fusion music with a bit of funk thrown in for good fun
